Dedicated to Idaho’s children
The IEA Children’s Fund is a special fund devoted to providing financial assistance – be it money, clothes, food, school supplies, or health care services – to Idaho public school children and their families who face extraordinary needs.
The IEA Children’s Fund (“CF”) is a non-profit corporation dedicated solely to helping IEA members meet the needs of Idaho public school students.
Who the Fund Helps
Many Idaho school children struggle with basic needs that can hamper or prevent them from taking full advantage of their educational opportunities.
The Idaho Education Association Children’s Fund has provided more than $1 million in grants to children and families in need since its inception in 1997.
Approximately 4,600 children and families have been helped through the Children’s Fund, with an average grant amount totaling roughly $228.
How the Children’s Fund Works
The Fund grants requests for the purchase of shoes, winter coats, groceries, eye glasses, dental work, medicine, and more. Requests are made by IEA Membersand reviewed for compliance with the Children’s Fund policy. Most requests are granted and funds are disbursed within 10 working days.
IEA members, educators, public, non-profits, and corporations contribute to the Children’s Fund. Donations can be made by any individual or group that supports the mission of the fund.
History of the Fund
The Idaho Education Association (IEA) is a statewide organization of public school educators—teachers, secretaries, custodians, bus drivers, and others who work in our state’s public schools each day.
We recognize that many students in our schools are struggling. They live without the basic necessities of food, clothing, eyeglasses, doctors’ visits, despite the availability of social assistance programs.
IEA members wanted a vehicle to pool our resources and be able to dispense these funds quickly to children in need. So, in 1996 the members of the Idaho Education Association created this special Children’s Fund.
